Stones Worth Stepping,
P.C. offers a therapeutic approach to developmental
learning. Infants and children begin learning about the environment
through their senses at or even before birth. Functional
development is dependent upon the ability of the sensory system to
receive and produce appropriate sensory responses. Sensory
integration is the interaction of the sensory system including the
five senses: visual, auditory, taste, touch, and smell, as well as
vestibular, proprioceptive, and tactile. These senses are primarily
responsible for sense of movement, space, body awareness, and
coordination. Using sensory integrative intervention in addition to
newly advanced treatment tools offered at Stones Worth Stepping,
P.C., children with developmental delay may learn to reorganize
their systems in order to achieve maximum potential for
learning.
Children with special needs,
including autism and developmental delay, may benefit from our
unique therapeutic approach. Pediatric therapy consists of
improving sensory processing, upper/lower extremity strength,
postural stability, gross motor skills/coordination, motor
planning/praxis, fine motor coordination/handwriting skills, oral
motor skills, and much more!
